The development of research and innovation in pharmaceutical and cosmetics sciences has been continuously growing and advancing rapidly, particularly following the major outbreak of COVID-19, which has brought significant changes to the medical and health sciences field. Healthcare professionals and the general public alike have placed importance on and closely followed the development of new pharmaceuticals aimed at treating diseases and promoting overall well-being. There has been a consistent increase in focus on health, beauty, and skincare, with scientists from various disciplines emphasizing research and development of pharmaceuticals and health-promoting products. This has led to significant advancements in medicine and various innovations worldwide.

From the National Research and Innovation Strategy (BE 2561-2580) of the Secretary-General’s Office of the National Strategy Committee, Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Policy for Thailand 4.0, as well as the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy and Plan (2012-2021) of the Thai Government, there is a push to propel Thailand towards becoming an “Innovation Nation.” This entails being a country ready to grow and capable of generating innovations that drive economic and social transformation. To become a developed nation in the future, it is imperative to leverage knowledge in science, technology, innovation, and creative thinking as factors to enhance the productivity of production and service sectors in generating value-added for the business sector. Furthermore, accelerating the development of innovative entrepreneurs through the linkage of private sector, government, education, and society can create a robust innovation ecosystem from the ground up.

The Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy, along with the Master of Science Program in Cosmetic Science, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, has a mission to manage teaching and research for innovation to develop knowledge related to research and development of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Recognizing the importance of this, we organized the 1^st International Conference in Pharmaceutics and Cosmetics (ICPCos) as an academic platform, providing opportunities for faculty members, researchers, students from various related fields, as well as interested individuals from both private and public sectors nationwide to participate and learn about advancements in pharmaceutical and cosmetic research and innovation. The conference featured keynote speeches by qualified speakers, presentations of research works by renowned researchers, both domestic and international, and opportunities for attendees to present their own research in oral and poster formats, fostering knowledge exchange, research experiences, and the commercial utilization of research outcomes in the future. The conference covered the following topics:

1. Scientific Insights into Skin Health and Vitality: Achieving Balance for Healthy Skin
2. Technological Advances and Future Outlook in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry

Moreover, the 1^st International Conference in Pharmaceutics and Cosmetics (ICPCos) received collaboration from faculty members at the School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia, Malaysia. This collaboration aimed to establish a network of researchers (international linkage) between faculty members from both institutions to exchange knowledge, research experiences, and promote cooperation in research endeavors between Thai researchers and international counterparts in an equitable manner.

OBJECTIVE

1. To provide opportunities for researchers, scholars, faculty members, students, and interested individuals from various governmental and private organizations to present their research work at an international level, aiming to enhance progress and leadership in academic endeavors within Thailand at the regional level.
2. To facilitate the meeting and exchange of knowledge and academic experiences in research and innovation among researchers and scholars, both Thai and international, involved in relevant fields.
3. To allow Thai researchers and scholars to become acquainted with and familiarize themselves with contemporary pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and scientific researchers from abroad, leading to academic and research cooperation at institutional levels in the future.
4. To produce joint outputs with renowned international researchers or scholars invited, with the expectation of yielding at least two items from the following list.  
    4.1 Research projects that have applied for funding from external sources with a budget of no less than 1,000,000 baht.
    4.2 Published works where the project leader or co-researcher is listed as the first author or corresponding author in international journals with an impact factor listed in ISI SCOPUS or PUBMED databases at the level of Quartile 1 or higher, for both Science and Technology and Health Sciences disciplines.
    4.3 Works that have social and/or economic impact, supported by evidence.

• Global Collaboration: Opportunities for research partnerships with international institutes.
