39th International Annual Meeting in Pharmaceutical Sciences (IAMPS39)

March 19-20, 2024 at Amari Bangkok Hotel (Amari Watergate), Bangkok

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, has organized a conference to present research findings in the field of pharmacy, including pharmaceutical sciences and health sciences. This conference is a continuous event and is considered the longest-standing conference in Thailand, organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences since the year 2525 B.E. (1982). It is widely recognized by scholars nationwide, and researchers from various disciplines submit a significant number of pharmaceutical science research papers each year. The annual research conference of the Faculty serves as a platform for professors, researchers, students, and scholars from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and related fields. It also welcomes participants from various organizations across the country. This conference provides an opportunity for presenting individual research findings, fostering knowledge exchange and research experiences. Additionally, it encourages the application of research findings for future benefits. This year, the conference will be held in an international format. Apart from showcasing the work of Thai researchers, it will also facilitate learning and exchange between Thai and international researchers. This initiative aims to support and enhance collaboration between Thai researchers and those from universities and research institutions abroad.

The 39th annual research conference of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, is expected to be attended by professors, researchers, graduate students, and scholars from various faculties, including Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Science, and other relevant faculties and institutions, both public and private. The conference will feature special lectures by distinguished speakers and presentations of research findings from renowned researchers, both nationally and internationally. Research presentations will include oral and poster formats covering the following topics:

  1. Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Natural Products
  2. Biopharmaceutical Sciences
  3. Pharmaceutical Technology and Cosmetic Sciences
  4. Clinical and Social/Administrative Pharmacy

To broaden the dissemination of research findings, accepted works presented at the conference will be published in the proceedings. There are two formats for the original manuscripts: 1) an abstract (1 page A4), and 2) an abstract combined with a full paper (5 pages A4, including the abstract). All submissions will undergo peer review for academic accuracy and suitability before publication.

The conference will also include the presentation of the Nagai Award Thailand 2023, which recognizes outstanding internationally published research articles in acknowledged academic journals. Professor Tsuneji Nagai, the president of the Nagai Foundation, supports this prestigious award. It is considered one of the most esteemed awards in the field of pharmacy research. Professor Tsuneji Nagai will personally present three awards to Thai researchers, including:

  1. Nagai Award for Outstanding Published Research in Pharmacy Practice/Social and Administrative Pharmacy (1 award)
  2. Nagai Award for Outstanding Published Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2 awards)

In addition, there will be the presentation of the winner of “Professor Dr. Vichiara Jirawongse Award” for outstanding research in herbal medicine. This award is given to researchers who have made notable contributions in the field of herbal medicine, benefiting society, the nation, and the international community. The 39th annual research conference of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chulalongkorn University, will be held in conjunction with the 39th International Annual Meeting in Pharmaceutical Sciences (IAMPS39) and the International Conference and Pharmaceutical Innovation Exhibition 2024. The event aims to establish international research networks under the theme “Healthcare Innovation for the Better Future.” The exhibition will showcase innovations or products resulting from the research efforts of faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chulalongkorn University.

Additionally, there will be activities for presenting innovative projects collaboratively developed by faculty members and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chulalongkorn University, and Kyushu University, Japan. The event will include a competition for international-level innovative projects, recognizing outstanding innovations and awarding prizes to promote the application of research findings. Furthermore, a networking meeting will be organized to facilitate knowledge exchange, research experiences, and collaboration between Thai and Japanese researchers, fostering fair research collaboration between the two institutions.

OBJECTIVE

  1. To provide an opportunity for academics and researchers, both Thai and international, to meet and exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of academia, research, and innovation.
  2.  To open avenues for pharmacists, including professors, academics, researchers, students, and interested individuals from various public and private sectors, to present their research findings at the international level. This aims to enhance Thailand’s academic leadership and advancement in the regional context.
  3. To familiarize Thai academics and researchers with contemporary pharmacological and scientific research conducted by international researchers. This exposure is intended to foster future collaborations and partnerships in academia and research, both on a personal and institutional level.

Abstract plus full-paper structure
• Submitted manuscripts should be original and not previously published elsewhere, as the research work can serve as evidence for several purposes, such as staff evaluations or student’s graduation. All quantitative or qualitative studies are welcome.
• Your abstract with a full paper should be structured as shown in the
Abstract plus full-paper template It must fit on not more than five pages of A4 paper (i.e., one-page abstract plus not more than four pages of the full paper).  Please use this template for your manuscript preparation.
• A manuscript must be typed in Arial font, i.e. 12-point Arial with bold typeface for the study title, 10-point Arial with regular typeface for the paper body, and 9-point for the authors’ addresses/affiliations. Please use single spacing for the manuscript and look at the Abstract structure above for the abstract format. Regarding the full paper, it should embrace:
Title – Same as the abstract
Authors’ details – Same as the abstract but without details of the corresponding author
Keywords – Same as the abstract
Introduction – Provide brief information about relevant problems, the interesting gaps/niches, and rationale for the study. Specify the objectives of the study clearly.
Methods – May write this section in a structured format with various subheading or in a conventional one with 1 – 3 paragraphs including, for instance, study design, materials, date and method of data collection, population and sample(s), study instrument, data analysis and ethical approval (if necessary).

Results – As with the Methods, this section can be presented as structured or conventional findings. It may be combined with discussion to form a section “Results and Discussion”; this depends on the discipline. Present actual results of research. Forthcoming results, results in preparation, or simple descriptions of processes being implemented are discouraged and will not be considered by the panel. One or more tables or figures can be included as appropriate. However, the title or legend of a table should be placed above the table, whereas that of a figure is beneath the figure.
Discussion – Compare or contrast the findings with other studies. In case of a new piece of research without previous evidence, just simply discuss the results.
Conclusion – Draw a conclusion from the findings against the research questions or objectives.  Recommendations for future studies or practice may be included as appropriate.
References – Use the Vancouver style of referencing – NLM style as summarized in the book “Citing medicine: the NLM style guide for authors, editors, and publishers [Internet]. 2nd ed. Patrias K, Wendling D, editors. Bethesda (MD): National Library of Medicine; 2007-2012”.

Place the number after a full stop if citing the whole sentence. References to books, journal articles, and other sources should be listed at the end of the paper in numbered order based on the NLM style. See an example of NLM referencing in the Abstract plus full-page template.
